Bangladesh's right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed stated that there is not much for bowlers in the ICC World Cup 2023 as there have been high-scoring matches throughout the mega event.
Bangladesh have lost four matches in the mega event and their chances of playing the semi-final have been heavily dented. If they have to play in the knockout stage, the Tigers would need to register big-margin wins and also have to pray that other results go their way.
"So far, I played in this World Cup and also I have been watching. It's nothing much for the bowlers. It's kind of batting friendly, all the grounds," said Taskin who has two wickets in three matches so far.
The right-arm pacer then stated that sub-continent teams, other than India, don't get much help from batting-friendly wickets and said that the sides who are posting great totals are succeeding more.
"On these batting-friendly wickets in India, the teams who have a long batting, they are getting benefited. None of the subcontinent teams, barring India, are able to do well. The teams who have been able to score big totals they are doing well and have more success rates," he added, referring to especially to South Africa's campaign," he added.
Taskin then added that for a fast bowler, it is not all about pace but a skillset is just as important, if not more.
"It's not all about speed. Like we have seen there are express fast bowlers in the world, they're also struggling, leaking runs," he said.
"So, in this kind of conditions, it's not all about speed. You need some variation skills and a game awareness. So, it's not all about speed. You need a lot of skills to do well in this kind of surfaces."
It must be noted that Bangladesh suffered a massive 149-run defeat against South Africa on October 24 and will now take on the Netherlands in Kolkata on Saturday.
